Cape-of-the-Madeleine

Cape-of-the-Madeleine was a Québécois Ville of more than 35.000 inhabitants, now amalgamated with Three-Rivers since January 1st 2002.

It was founded the March 20th 1651, and owes its name in Jacques Of Ferté, abbot of Holy-Madeleine de Châteaudun in France.

It is famous for the Basilique Notre-Dame of the Cape dedicated to the Virgin Mary, which accommodates each year of the thousands of pilgrim S and visitors each year.

The inhabitants of the Cape-of-the-Madeleine name Madelinois (not to be confused with Madelinots, inhabitants of the Iles-de-la-Madeleine).
