Cantons of Morbihan
Situation in 1790
The Département of Morbihan was created with nine districts and 71 cantons.
Evolution
In 1797, the districts were removed and replaced in 1800 by four districts:
- District of Lorient
- District of Ploërmel
- District of Pontivy
- District of Valves
In 1923, the Canton of Groix was created.
In September 1926, the district of Ploërmel was removed.
In 1982, the two cantons of Valves were reorganized in three cantons as well as the two cantons of Lorient and the Canton of Lanester was created.
