the canton of Montpellier 5 is located in the Herault, in the Arrondissement of Montpellier.

Geographical composition

Since 1992, it is only made up of districts of the south of the commune of Montpellier:
  • Moularès,
  • Near-in Arènes,
  • Saint Martin's day,
  • Quoted Mion,
  • Rauze,
  • Tournezy,
  • Bridge-Trinquat.

History

Until 1992, the canton of Montpellier-5 included/understood districts of the south of Montpellier and the three communes of Lattes, Palavas-the-Floods and Pérols.

In 1992, these three last communes are made up in Canton of Slats whose first elected general adviser is Michel Vaillat, then general adviser of Montpellier-5.

Since 1992, the canton includes/understands only districts of the commune of Montpellier.
