Canton of Ganges
the canton of Ganges is located in the Herault, in the Arrondissement of Montpellier.
General adviser: Jacques Stone (PS), mayor of Ganges
Total population: 8.384 inhabitants
It is composed of the following communes:
- Brissac
- Cazilhac
- Ganges
- Gorniès
- Laroque
- Montoulieu
- Mould-and-Baucels
- Saint-Bauzille-of-Fitchet
During the creation of the departments, for the revolutionary period, the canton of Ganges was initially located in the Gard. Then, it was exchanged with that of Acute-Dead which was initially located in Herault, so that the Gard, which was in addition very culturally and commercially dependant on this canton, can have a maritime outlet.
Canton renewed in 2004, renewable in 2010.
