History

The canton of Chelles was made up in 1964 starting from territories belonging to the Canton of Lagny-sur-Marne. He was amputee of the communes of Husk-on-Chantereine, Vaires-sur-Marne and of part of the commune of Chelles (left northern), which formed the Canton of Vaires-sur-Marne, following the decree n°75-1033 of the bearing October 28th, 1975 creation of cantons in the department of Seine-et-Marne, to take its current form.
