The canton of Châteaugiron is a French administrative division , located in the department of Ille-et-Vilaine and the area Brittany.

The canton of Châteaugiron gathers the common following:

History

Before the Revolution of 1789, the communes which were going to constitute the Canton of Châteaugiron ressortissaient all of the " General information of Rennes" for the civilian and of Évêché of Rennes to the monk.

The constituent Assembly was going to create on December 14th, 1789, a municipality in each city, borough, parish. All the parishes were set up in communes.

The old administrative organization of the States of Brittany was going to disappear to be replaced by the departmental news strucutres. The department of Rennes was divided into 9 Districts and 79 cantons and became the department of Ille-et-Vilaine.

The Communes of Châteaugiron (or Montgiron in 1795), Domloup, Nouvoitou, Saint-Aubin-of-Pavail, Veneffles constituted the canton of Châteaugiron.

Brécé, Noyal-sur-Vilaine, Servon-on-Unpleasant formed the canton of Noyal-sur-Vilaine.

Chance belonged to the canton of Worse (District of Guerche)

Saint-Armel was in the canton of Body-Nuds (District of Bath)

It is in 1802 - Year X - that was made up the Canton of Châteaugiron in its current configuration with 10 communes (Veneffles until 1971)

From 1833 to 1848, there was only one elected official for the cantons of Châteaugiron and Liffré:

- Jean-Baptiste MANCEL, elected the 1-12-1833

- Paul-Charles HARDOUIN, Mayor of Noyal-sur-Vilaine, 7-05-1837
