Basle-City (in German ) is a canton Suisse.

History

The demicanton of Basle-City exists only since 1833, before, and at the time of its entry in the Confederation in 1501, it formed part with Basle-Countryside Canton of Basle.

Geography

The canton of Basle-City is the smallest canton of Switzerland. It is at the border with the France and the Germany and is crossed by the the Rhine.

The airport of Basle-Mulhouse is located at a few kilometers of the center of the canton.

The canton is a pilot area since 2001 for the project of Société to 2000 Watts suggested by the federal Polytechnic school of Zurich.
