Cannabaceae
The Cannabinacées or Cannabacées (according to the authors the scientific name varied: Cannabinaceae , Cannabaceae , Cannabidaceae or Cannabiaceae ) is a family of plants Dicotylédones.
In traditional classification of Cronquist (1981), the family is assigned with the order Urticales , and includes/understands two kinds :
They are herbaceous plants with port drawn up or climbing. The kind Cannabis is annual, whereas the kind Humulus is long-lived.
These two plants have a great importance industrielle :
- the Chanvre provides fibers (stems), oil (seeds called Chenevis);
- the Houblon is used in the manufacture of beer.
Hemp is also used for an entertaining use, one then gives him commonly the name of Cannabis; from its resin the Haschisch is extracted.
The phylogenetic classification APG II (2003) gave up the order Urticales and all the plants of this kind are assigned with the order Rosales . The family is extended and includes several kinds forming previously part of the family Ulmaceae , notably Celtis . She includes/understands 170 species in 11 kinds:
- Aphananthe, Cannabis, Celtis, Gironniera, Hop, Lozanella, Parasponia, Pteroceltis, Dieresis .
