Candillargues

Candillargues is a common French, located in the department of the Herault and the area Languedoc-Roussillon.

Its inhabitants is Candillarguois.

Geography

The village of Candillargues is located at approximately 15 kilometers in the east of the center of Montpellier, and approximately 4 kilometers of Mauguio, chief town of the canton.

The communal territory is located on northern bank of the pond of Gold, and is framed by Cadoule in the west and Bérange in the east.

The communes bordering are Mudaison in the North-West, Lansargues in the North-East and the east, and Mauguio in the south (pond of Gold) and in the west.

The vines developed at the 19th century left room to the Arboriculture in second half of the 20th century with the establishment of irrigation the canal of Low-Rhone-Languedoc which passes two kilometers more to north to Mudaison.

In edge of pond, the aerodrome includes/understands a track of 900 meters and is used with the flights as ULM.

Places and monuments

The church of Candillargues was founded at the 12th century. The bell goes back to 1648. The year 1978 is remembered by the discovery of old frescos. The church as well as the street bear the name of Patron saint of the village: Blaise. Each year, Candillarguois celebrate the festival of the Saint Blaise the first weekend of February. At the top of the festivities the " reigns; bull with the corde". The inhabitants of the villages and cities which perpetuate this habit are at present in a great battle against the prefect in order to be able to preserve these festivities camarguaises which are their history.
