In Belgium
In
Belgium, the diploma of
candidature (nl:
kandidaats ) was a university Diplôme
sanctioning the success of first a two years cycle. Since the academic year
2005 -
2006, this diploma is not delivered any more, because it was replaced within the framework of the Processus of Bologna by the
baccalaureat, one three years duration.
In Denmark
The
kandidatgraden is a rank obtained in 2 years of studies after the
bachelorgraden is 5 years of higher learning.
In the ex-USSR
The rank of
kandidat nauk (Кандидатнаук) is similar to the doctorate of research (English PhD).
In the Netherlands
The rank of
candidate is an old rank removed into 1989 which was obtained after three years of higher learning.
In Iceland
The
kandidatspróf is generally prepared in 4 years.
In Sweden
The diploma of
kandidat is obtained after three years of higher learning and gives access is with the preparation of the Doctorat (4 years) or of the
license (
licentiat ) (2 years).
In Finland
The diploma of
kandidaatti is prepared in 3 years and is generally regarded as an intermediate diploma during the studies leading to the Maîtrise (
Maîtrise ).
