The Movement against the Racism and for the Amitié between the Peuple S (or MRAP ) is a French association which definite itself like a means of claim for “the equal rights between all the citizens” This objective, present as of the foundation of association is found in its statutes. {{exp|Note 1}}

By a decree of the Ministry for youth and sports of April 21st, 1983, the MRAP is approved like “ National association of popular education ”. It is also an governmental organization equipped with the advisory statute near UNO. The MRAP is member of the National advisory commission of the human rights (or CNCDH).

Political ideology

The action of the MRAP is exerted in particular in favor of migrants, request asylums, immigrants with or without papers, Roms, Tziganes and travelling entertainers, Juifs, French of foreign origin, homosexual and the immigrant women. The MRAP supports without-papers in their actions against the policy which France or the European Union applies against the migrants and request asylums.

It brings also proceedings against what it considers being of racist discrimination in work, housing, leisures. The MRAP is declared for a peace fair and lasting in the Middle East, the support for the Iranian democrats, the actions against the capital punishment with the the United States and in China especially, the support for all the innocent victims of political violences (with the Darfur and in Chetchnia).

It organizes each year a “week of education against racism” in schools. It takes part, in particular with the Ligue of the human rights (LDH), to campaigns on the Citoyenneté and the right to vote from abroad, and communicates on this subject its positions.

Bonds with other movements

This movement took share with the creation of the Association for the tax on the transactions for the more known assistance with the citizens under the name of ATTAC, and in is member for this reason. He belongs to the Réseau education without borders (known as RESF), of Migreurop, European network against racism, and for this reason takes part in a total reflection, with other associations, on the Human rights today.

1949-1977: Movement against racism, the anti-semitism and for peace

May 22nd, 1949, the MRAP was created by members of the National movement against racism (MNCR), of the international Ligue against racism and the anti-semitism (LICRA), and of the movement of the Francs-tireurs and partisans - immigrant Labor (ftp me) like by various personalities such as the painter Chagall. It takes the name of “Movement against racism, the anti-semitism and for peace”.
