Cancerogenic
A cancerogenic or carcinogenic is a factor causing, worsening or sensitizing the appearance of a Cancer. That can be simple or complex chemicals, a professional exposure, risk factors dependant on the lifestyle or of the physical agents and biological.
Classification
There exist several classifications of the cancerogenecity of the substances of which that of the European Union and that of the international Center of research on cancer. The latter is presented below.
Group 1: The agent (the mixture) is cancerogenic for the man
The circumstances of exposure give place has exposures which are cancerogenic for the man. This category is used only when one has indications sufficient of cancerogenicity for the man. Exceptionally, an agent (mixture) can be placed in this category when the indications of cancerogenicity for the Man are not completely sufficient, but that there exist sufficient indications of his cancerogenicity in the animal of laboratory and strong presumptions which the agent (mixture) acts according to a mechanism of cancerogenicity recognized.
Group 2
This category includes/understands the agents, mixtures and circumstances of exposure for which, to the maximum, one obtained indications of cancerogenicity for the man almost sufficient and, at least, one does not have any data concerning the man but one has indications sufficient of cancerogenicity for the animal of laboratory. The aforementioned agents, mixtures and circumstances of exposure are classified either in the 2A group (probably cancerogenic for the man), or in the 2B group (perhaps cancerogenic for the man) on the basis of epidemiologic and experimental indication of cancerogenicity and other relevant information.
Group 2A: The agent (the mixture) is probably cancerogenic for the man.
The circumstances of exposure give place has exposures which are probably cancerogenic for the man.One appeals has this category when one has limited indications of cancerogenicity at the man and sufficient indications of cancerogenicity in the animal of laboratory. In certain cases, an agent (mixture) can be class in this category when one has insufficient indications of cancerogenicity for the man and indications sufficient of cancerogenicity for the animal of laboratory and strong presumptions which carcinogenesis is carried out by a mechanism which also functions at the man. Exceptionally, an agent, a mixture or a circumstance of exposure can be class in this category if one has only limited indications of cancerogenicity for the man.
Group 2B: The agent (the mixture) is perhaps cancerogenic for the Man
The circumstances of exposure give place to exposures which are perhaps cancerogenic for the man. This category relates to the agents, mixtures and circumstances of exposure for which one has limited indications of cancerogenicity at the man, and of insufficient indications of cancerogenicity in the animal of laboratory. One can appeal also there when one has insufficient indications of cancerogenicity for the man, but whom one lays out of indications sufficient of cancerogenicity for the animal of laboratory. In certain cases, can be classes in this group an agent, a mixture or circumstances of exposure for which one has insufficient indications of a cancerogenic action at the man, but for which one has limited indications of cancerogenicity in the animal of laboratory, corroborated by other relevant data.
Group 3: The agent (the mixture, circumstances of exposure) cannot be classified as for its cancerogenicity for the Man
This category includes/understands primarily the agents, the mixtures and the circumstances of exposure for which the indications of cancerogenicity insufficient at the man and insufficient or are limited in the animal of laboratory. Exceptionally, the agents (mixtures) for which the indications of cancerogenicity are insufficient at the man but sufficient in the animal of laboratory can be classes in this category when there exist strong presumptions that the mechanism of the cancerogenicity in the animal of laboratory does not function at the man. One also classifies in this category the agents, mixtures and circumstances of exposure which do not correspond has any of the other categories.
Group 4: The agent (the mixture) is probably not cancerogenic for the man.
This category the agents and mixtures concern for which one has indications suggesting an absence of cancerogenicity at the man like in the animal of laboratory. In certain cases, can be classes in this group of the agents or the mixtures for which the indications of cancerogenicity for the man are insufficient, but for which one has indications suggesting an absence of cancerogenicity in the animal of laboratory, constantly and strongly corroborated by a broad range of other relevant data.
