Canadian evening

Canadian Soirée was an appointment televisual Québécois weekly diffused, during 23 years, out of Télé 7 (CHLT - Sherbrooke), of 1960 to 1983, and animated by Louis Bilodeau.

The emission, having for topic the Québécois folklore (Canadian-French), had as a backdrop the decoration of a typical Canadian house and recreated the universe of one taken care of antan, being articulated around the services of various orders (songs, gigues, dances, etc) of its protagonists: inhabitants of a given locality. The genius of Louis Bilodeau lay in this incredible capacity to slacken the atmosphere and left the apron to the common runs of people, to replace the people like engine even of his own culture, playing an “unobtrusive” part at the same time and acting of central pillar and joint between the various elements, which also gathered the priest and the mayor of the invited municipality, like “the organizer” of the evening.

987 emissions were recorded and nearly 1300 visited localities. Jean Collard was the realizer.
