Canadian agency of international expansion

The Canadian Agence of international expansion (shortened in ACDI ) is a Canadian Government agency which manages the programs of International assistance in the countries in the process of development. This organization submits reports/ratios to the Parlement of Canada by the means of the Ministre for the international cooperation.

ACDI was created in 1968, having replaced the office of the outside assistance established in (1959 - 1960). Paul Gérin-Lajoie, Québécois politician, was president of ACDI of 1970 with 1977.

ACDI especially wishes to reduce the Extreme-poverty, the Faim and the Infant mortality. To eliminate the Paludism, the Illiteracy, to promote the elementary school and to ensure the equality of the sexes are also important for it.

The Prime Minister of Canada Paul Martin promised to improve the financing of the ACDI after having met the rockor and humane Bono. It is this organization which is in charge of the management of 383 million the 425 million dollars poured after the tsunami of November 26th, 2004.

The ACDI works with development banks like the the World Bank, the inter-American Banque of development, the Asian development bank and the Development bank of the Caribbean.

This agency also collaborates with Développement and Paix, the Canadian Conseil for the international cooperation (CCCI) and the world university Mutual aid of Canada (EUMC). The co-operation with the countries of the Francophonie is especially privileged. Those which want to work in the field of the international assistance must postulate near the Canadian Commission of the public office.

In 2007, the senatorial committee of the foreign affairs is shown very severe with regard to the ACDI and requires a reform, if not even an abolition of the organization, because it notes that this one is strongly bureaucratisé and that few visible indices show an improvement of the African situation, in spite of tens of billion dollars spent during the last decades.
