The Military academy interarmes (EMIA) is one of the schools of the Army French charged to train officers resulting from internal recruitment (former warrant officers).

The EMIA is established with Coëtquidan (Morbihan) on the commune of Guer, and its pupils attend the same school as their comrades of military special École of Saint-Cyr military school resulting, for their part, of an external contest and Military academy of the Technical and administrative Body. The EMIA recruits its pupils among the warrant officers of active selected by contest. The pupil-officers follow a two years formation. At the conclusion of the first year they are named with the rank of Sous-lieutenant then lieutenant at the end of the second year. The lieutenant S lately promoted then supplement their formation during one year additional in the school of application of their choice. (Montpellier for the infantry, Draguigan for artillery, Saumur for the weapon armor-cavalry, Angers for genius etc)

The EMIA is the heiress of different the schools from weapons of the 19th century, which trained officers resulting from the bodies of troop. Most important of these schools of weapons, the school of infantry of Saint-Maixent , was amalgamated with Saint-Cyr military school in 1942 in the school of the pupil-candidates of Cherchell-Médiouna, creates after the German occupation of the southern zone. In 1944 the school of Cherchell took the name of Military academy Interarmes . It settled in Coëtquidan, the buildings of the old school of Saint-Cyr military school, with Saint-Cyr-the School having been destroyed in bombardments. The new school, which took in 1947 the name of special school military interarmes , formed at the same time, according to the idea of amalgam of its founder the general of Lattre de Tassigny, of the officers resulting from the external contest and the officers resulting from internal recruitment. This system functions until in 1961, date on which one separated the formation from the “direct” officers, entrusted to the new school of Saint-Cyr military school, and that of the “internal” officers, entrusted with the EMIA.

The pupils of the EMIA are called the “dolos”, according to the mark of Corned beef of the old rations of combat.

The songs of tradition of the EMIA are " Prière" and " Sarie Mares"
