Places and monuments
Castle disappeared but the tower from the bell-tower of the church would be the keep. Perhaps this castle goes back to XIIe century. Between 1147 and 1359, it would have been occupied by a ministerial family of of the bishop of Strasbourg. With XIIIe century, five knights vassal of which " von Mittelhausen " are attached to the defense of the castle of the bishop. In addition, this castle, sits of a baillif of the bishop, played a part during the repression of the revolt of the peasants of 1525. A episcopal court sat perhaps there and an bracket was drawn up with the locality Galgenberg (hill of the bracket) on the heights between Gougenheim and Mittelhausen.
