Campo Bom is a city of the Brésil.
The city holds the origin of its name of the quality of the pastures of this area (" Campo Bom" mean " Good Champ" , in Portuguese) and with the water abundance who allowed the former cowherds passing by the area to settle with their animals, benefitting from the softness and the peace of the place.
The municipality of Campo Bom was a colony of São Leopoldo, inhabited by Amerindian popularly called " Bugres" (ethnos group Kaî-Gang). The occupation by the European immigrants begins starting from 1814.
Between December 1825 and January 1826, German families arrive by the Rio back Sinos, while unloading in Oporto Blos.
The grounds " campobonsenses" , before the installation of the German colony of São Leopoldo, in 1824, were used as crossing point for the herds of cattle which went down from the Serra Geral and Campos de São Francisco and Vacaria, in direction of the capital of the province. They are the cowherds who gave his name to the zone of Campo Bom.
In 1926, Campo Bom becomes Vila (hamlet), and, the following year, she is considered 2nd District of São Leopoldo.
The January 31st, 1959 , Campo Bom émancipe of São Leopoldo.
