Camp of Royallieu

The camp of Royallieu to Compiegne (Oise) in France was a camp of transit and internment Nazi open of June 1941 to August 1944.

The camp accepted more than 53.000 people, prisoner of war, political prisoner, Jews and resistant. It was used as camp of transit for the extermination or concentration camps located more at the east, in particular Ravensbrück, Buchenwald or Mauthausen.

Become “Royallieu district” after the war, it lodged the 58e regiment of command and transmissions in the Années 1970 and the 51e regiment of transmissions in the Années 1980. This camp been used as center of instruction (Ci) of the Air force for called quota in the end of the year fifty and beyond that. Formed with the terrestrial military combat into 60 to 70 days, each quota of called approximately 1000 recruits per quarter left this center of drive at the conclusion of the formation. Called each quota were then dispersed in various Air bases (BA) both in France and in Algeria.
