Camp of Chateaubriant
The Camp of Chateaubriant is a camp of internment located in France, in the commune of Châteaubriant, in Loire-Atlantique (at the time Loire-Inférieure). It was open in 1941.
This camp, so known under the name of Center of stay supervised of Choisel , depended on the sub-prefect and put under the monitoring of the French gendarmes. It sheltered ordinary prisoners and political prisoners whose majority were communist.
The first German troops arrive at Châteaubriant the June 17th 1940.
History of the camp
1941

January 14th: departure of the prisoners of war of the camp of Choisel for Germany
- March: nomads are installed with the camp of Choisel. No sanitary service. The children die there many, then traffickers of the black-market, upholders, streetwalkers
- April: the first political prisoners are interned: workmen of the arsenals or sailors Breton. One wants to oblige them to live with the traffickers. They refuse and obtain finally two huts. It will be the camp P1 (policies 1)
- May: arrived from 54 Communist militants of the Paris region who come from the Centrale of Poissy and a hundred come from the Power station from Clairvaux later, others will come from the Prison of Health.
- June 5th and 6th: Guy Môquet receives the visit of his/her mother and her little brother.
- 18 June 19th: escape from four leaders, members pre-war period of the central committee of the party: Fernand Attic, Leon Bad, Eugene Hénaff and Henri Raynaud. The escape involves a hardening of the detention conditions.
- July: arrival of the first women and judge Didier
- August 21st: law on the hostages: all the prisoners of the camp became hostages
- August 23rd: creation of the Special sections which will judge with retroactive effect
- September 1st: departure of the nomads of the camp of Choisel
- September 16th: arrival of 87 men of Health and 46 women of the Rocket
- September 23rd: setting with the variation of “Hut 19” called the hut of the intellectuals to the Camp of Choisel
- October 13rd, arrival of Chassagne, principal private secretary of Pucheu
- October 20th: assassination of the lieutenant-colonel Hotz with Nantes, by a commando of communist resistant young people of the Battalions of the youth (Spartaco Guisco, Gilbert Brustlein, Marcel Bourdarias), which will involve the execution of 27 hostages of the camp on October 22nd. - December 15th: 9 patriots carried out in Blisière

- Babin Louis , 52 years, doctor with Arpajon
- Baroux Paul , 31 years, teacher with Longueau
- Gosset Raoul , electrician with Aubervilliers
- Jacq Fernand , 32 years, doctor with Huelgoat

- Perrouault Rene , 45 years, secretary of the CGT trade union of Chemical industries
- Thoretton Georges , 25 years, workman with Gennevilliers
- Vigor Georges , 37 years, metallurgist with Paris
1942
- March 7th: two young prisoners of Choisel will be shot in Nantes
- April 23rd: four other young prisoners of Choisel, shot in Nantes
- April 29th: two others still
- May 6th: the Camp of Choisel is evacuated towards Voves
