Campôme

Campôme is a common French, located in the department of the the Eastern Pyrenees and the area Languedoc-Roussillon. Its inhabitants is called Campomois.

The name of this village comes from the Latin campus ultimus (“the last field”) because with the Moyen-âge, Campôme belonged to the territory of its neighbor Molitg. In Catalan that gave Campoltme then Campome (the accent on O was added to francize the name).

Geography

Located in the Valley of Castellane, with 8km of the sub-prefecture of Prades, and with 50km of the prefecture, Perpignan.

The Place, point central of the village, shaded by a mulberry tree, it is the place where the campomois like to meet, where pass in particular the baker, the commercial one of vegetables and the deliveryman of the independent one, local newspaper. A beautiful spring water fountain decorates it.

The Holy Church Marie is a very beautiful church in charge of history.
