Camino navarro

The Camino Navarro (or Navarrese Way ) is a section of the Pèlerinage of Saint-Jacques-to-Compostelle which crosses the Spanish province of Navarre, from where its name.

Presentation

The way leaves the Col of Roncevaux (or “collar of Cize”, as Aimery Picaud in its Guide speaks about it about the Pilgrim ) to join Puente Reina, thus making the hyphen between the Via Turonensis (already joined by the Via Lemovicensis and the Via Podiensis) and the Camino frances.

The Guide of the Pilgrim

The chapter First indicates: “The road which passes by Holy-Foy, that which Saint-Léonard and that-which passes by Saint Martin's day meet with Ostabat and after having crossed the collar of Cize, they cross join in Puente Reina that which crosses the Somport; from there only one way led to Saint-Jacob.

A modern statue of the pilgrim set up in 1965 announces the site.
