" That we are inhabitant of Martinique appears obvious to us… Inhabitant of Martinique let us be we it by the geography… Inhabitant of Martinique are we it by the history… Inhabitant of Martinique let us be we it by the components of our people… Inhabitant of Martinique let us be we it because our economic interests are distinct from the economic interests of France… Inhabitant of Martinique let us be we it until in this Créole speech… And all these various factors, necessarily, forged a culture which, to be strongly influenced by the European culture, culture imposed, taught, popularized officially, is not less one original culture, which also enter of the African and Indian components… In truth which us does miss, consequently, to be the nation inhabitant of Martinique ? Nothing, absolutely nothing. If is not to cease being afraid of the mots" .

" If it is a data, with my insusceptible direction of serious discussion, it is although the people inhabitant of Martinique forms a nation … left There our chance, with us inhabitant of Martinique, it is not to be completely, neither of European culture, neither of African culture, nor of Indian culture, but of a culture which results from a mixing from several, each one, in a way deliberated or unconscious, received and digested with our manner… For all to say: we are not, or sums any more, a little this, a little that, a little this other still… We are new beings, of the inhabitant of Martinique, alive, whether the French State conceives it or not, in a multinational French unit… It is not question of asserting, by this skew the independence of our country which would deliver our people, naked, clean slate of very acquired, without least protection nor the least asset, with a all the more tough neocolonialism as we would have it, objectively, set up, without possibility of a flashback. It is of an autonomous Martinique area, in decentralized France which it is question, of a nation inhabitant of Martinique freely developing in multinational federate France ".
