Camille Coquilhat
Camille-Aime Coquilhat (delivery /k ɔklat/), born the October 15th 1853 with Liege in Belgium, dead the March 24th 1891 with Boma in the State independent of Congo (Democratic republic of Congo), was agent of the African International association and general governor of the State independent of Congo. It took share with forwardings of Stanley, founded Équateurville (Mbandaka) in June 1883 and a year later Iboko (Bangala-Station).
Lieutenant of the Belgian army, Coquilhat returns in 1882 in the African International association, organization of Léopold II of Belgium. Coquilhat had the idea to take again natives like soldiers and thus created the Police force, the force about the new state, and created the camp of formation of Matadi in 1886. He was general governor of the State independent of Congo right before his death.
At the time colonial, Équateurville, currently Mbandaka, were called Coquilhatville in its honor.
