Camille Bryen

Camille Bryen , born with Nantes in 1907 and died in Paris in 1977 is a French painter tachist news École of Paris, pertaining to the current of the Lyric abstraction.

Biography

Camille Bryen settles in Paris in 1926. Attracted by the surrealist , it publishes in 1927 a first collection of poems, Opopanax then, in 1932, Expériences , mixing poems, drawings and joinings. It presents in 1934 its first personal exposure and carries out in 1936 its first tachist painting. Bryen cosigne the proclamation “dimensionnist” with Arp, Duchamp and Picabia. With Raoul Ubac, it deposits “objects in the most unexpected places”, posts “poems and images on the walls”.

In 1948, Camille Bryen organizes the first exposure of the “Lyric abstraction” in which take part in particular Hartung, Wols, Schneider and Mathieu. It approaches then the Gravure and in 1949 the oil-base paint. It publishes in 1950 Héréphile then is diverted literature to be devoted entirely to painting.

Starting from the Années 1950 Bryen regularly presents personal exposures in France like abroad and takes part in many living rooms, biennial, collective exposures. In its work, always released of any allusion, the discrete fields of the color, structured by fine giclures, create a poetic climate which ensures its originality.

A stamp Camille Bryen, Précambrien is emitted by the French post offices on September 14th, 1987.

Bryen belongs to the painters brought together for the exposure " Lyrical flight, Paris 1945-1956" presented to the Museum of Luxembourg (Senate), 2006.
