Camil Samson
Camil Samson (January 3rd, 1935 with Shawinigan -) was a politician Québécois. He was Député with the National Assembly of Quebec and chief of the Ralliement creditist of Quebec.
Biography
Wire of Wilbroy Samson, a journalist and farmer and of Irene Carle, it are born in Shawinigan, Quebec. It makes its studies with Shawinigan, Cléricy and at the forest station Duchesnay. Of 1952 with 1956, it works in forest industry. Of 1956 with 1970, it works in the motor-car industry as salesman, manager of the services and sales manager. He was also insurance broker.
Political career
In 1963 and 1964, he is president of Youth creditist of Canada, the wing youth of the Ralliement creditist, a federal political party which preaches the monetary theory of reform of the social Crédit. He becomes later secretary and vice-president of the party. He is candidate creditist in the district of Pontiac-Témiscamingue at the time of the federal election of 1965, but does not succeed in being made elect. At the time of the provincial election of 1966, he is candidate demolishes in the district of Témiscamingue, this time under the banner of the national Ralliement, an independence party . In 1969, he is president of the Chamber of commerce of Rouyn-Noranda.It founds the Ralliement creditist of Quebec and is named president of the party on January 24th, 1970. The party wants to be the provincial wing of the Rallying creditist of Canada and preaches the same monetary theories creditists.
In the electoral campaign of 1970, the creditists benefit from the decline of the National union and make a modest breakthrough, gaining 12 seats with the National Assembly with 11,2% of the voices. Samson is elected in the district of Rouyn-Noranda. The party does not succeed in however improving this initial success because of internal divisions.
Samson is chief of the party from March 22nd, 1970 to February 13rd, 1972. March 16th, Camil Samson is expelled of the party by nine of the deputies creditists (organized by the temporary chief Armand Bois) to have criticized certain members of the caucus and for its absenteeism with the meetings of the party. March 19th, Samson declares chief of a new creditist group and request to sit at the National Assembly as a deputy of the “ Rallying creditist of Quebec enregistré ”, like two other deputies creditists, Aurèle Audet (Abitibi-West) and Bernard Dumont (Mégantic). However, the President of the National Assembly recognizes Armand Bois as parliamentary chief of the Rallying creditist of Quebec. August 11th, Samson, Dumont and Audet reinstate the Rallying creditist.
He is again candidate with the direction of the party at the time of the congress of February 4th, 1973, but he east demolishes by a liberal former minister federal, Yvon Dupuis. Like Dupuis does not sit at the National Assembly, Samson is useful as parliamentary chief of the party, rebatpized “ Party créditiste ” of the March 15th at September 25th, 1973. He is re-elected at the time of the general election of 1973, just as only one another deputy creditist, Fabien Roy. Before the election of 1976, there is a division moreover between the two only deputies creditists who break their affiliation. Samson again becomes chief of the party, which returned to the name “ Rallying creditist of Québec ” on May 11th, 1975, while Fabien Roy is expelled of the party.
Samson is re-elected at the time of the election of 1976; he is from now on the single deputy creditist with the National Assembly. (Fabien Roy is re-elected only under the banner of its new party, the popular national Parti.)
November 12th, 1978, Samson founds a new party, “ the Democrats ”, with Pierre Sévigny, former deputy progressist-conservative with the House of Commons of Canada of 1958 to 1963. This party is renamed on January 1st, 1980.
October 15th, 1980, Samson joined the Liberal party of Quebec, putting fine at the existence of the Democratic party creditist. He east demolishes in his attempt at re-election to the National Assembly in the district of Rouyn-Noranda— Témiscamingue in the election of 1981.
Of 1981 with 1984, it works like radio operator advertiser for station CKCV, and in Quebec for CHRC of 1984 with 1993. It also takes part in several television programs on the network Four-season Télévision of 1989 with 1991.
At the time of the federal election of 1993, he is candidate of the Liberal party of Canada in Quebec-Is, without success. It is named assistant special of the minister responsible for the area of Quebec in 1994.
