Cameroon Airlines

Cameroon Airlines shortened in Camair (Code AITA: UY ; Code ICAO: UYC ) is the national Airline company Cameroun.

Its chronic delays and its cancellations of flight are worth often the nickname of “Air to him perhaps”.

History

  • 1961 : Creation of Air Africa, company created by 11 Member States signatories of the treaty of Yaounde.

  • January 22nd, 1971: Cameroun withdraws Air Africa to create a Cameronian national company of aerial navigation.

  • July 26th, 1971: Cameroon Airlines (in shortened CAMAIR ) is created, with a start-up capital of 1,5 billion frank CFA.

  • November 1st, 1971: And beginning first flight of exploitation of Cameroon Airlines

  • 1972/1973: Cameroon Airlines becomes member of: IATA/ATAF/AFRA

  • 1974 : First flight with a crew entirely Cameronian

  • 1981 : First flight in Boeing 747 Combi

  • 2002 : Creation of Internet site of Cameroon Airlines Europe

  • 2004 : The company being late of several drafts at the Australian financial institution which rents to him its planes (Leasing), this one takes again without notice one of its apparatuses, in accordance with the contract: an important series of flights are thus cancelled on the Douala-Paris line.

  • September 16th, 2005: Grounding in France by DGAC. The company is placed on the " black list " , for reasons: “Many variations with the international standards in particular in the field of the loading of the apparatuses, goods transport dangerous, documentation necessary to navigation and the maintenance of the tires”. The company circumvents the problem by chartering a plane Air Italy for its connection Douala-Paris CDG.

  • November 4th, 2005: DGAC again authorized Cameroon Airlines to use its own planes at the beginning and bound for France. For the period of prohibition the Cameronian company was authorized to serve France with apparatuses of hiring.

  • September 11th, 2006: The credits of the company are transferred in the company “Cameroon airlines corporation” which take again the activities of Camair but not its passive.
