Camellia of Japan
Scientific name: the CAMELIA japonica - family: Théacées
The camellia was brought back of China by G.J. Kamel at the beginning of the 18th century. Joséphine de Beauharnais launched the fashion from there.

- Origin: Zone 7 - Japan, Korea, China
- Foliage: dark green shining, alternate, oval form with elliptic
- Flowers: reds, pinks or white
- Height: 1 to 2,50 m, with slow growth.
The standard species opens out December at March, but some of its 15.000 Cultivar S flower in May.
