Cambon-and-Salvergues are a common French, located in the department of the Herault and the area Languedoc-Roussillon. Its inhabitants is called Cambonais. The commune is located in the canton of Olargues.
Geography
The Commune is located on the Mounts of the Espinouse; it is sprinkled by the Agout. It is in the perimeter of the Regional natural park of High-Languedoc.
History
The common one was created on February 13rd 1869 (B.L. 1869, XXXIII-238) starting from inattentive sections of the communes of Saint-Julien (Cambon, Combecroze, Valbonne) and of Mons (Salvergues, the Throat, Calmette, Crouzet, Bardou). Bardou is again today on the territory of Mons.
Under the old mode, the commune belonged to the diocese of Saint-Pons-with-Thomières. The parish of Saint-Pierre-and-Saint-Paul with Cambon was an appendix of the parish of Saint-Jean-Baptist of Strawberry-on-Agout. The parish of Saint-Pierre-in-the Espinouse was closed with the Revolution. The hamlets of Salvergues and Salverguettes depended officially on the parish of Saint-Etienne with Murat-on-Vèbre, but its inhabitants rather followed the offices of Saint-Pierre-in-the Espinouse. A church was built in Salvergues about 1860 to replace the church in ruin of Saint-Pierre-in-the Espinouse.
