Came is a common French, located in the department of the Yrénées-Atlantiques and the area Aquitaine.
Its name Occitan is Cama (decides " Came"). Its Basque name is Akamarre .

Hydrography
The grounds of the commune are sprinkled by the Bidouze, affluent of the Adour, and by the tributaries of this one, the Lihoury and the brooks of Lagrabe and Layserotte.Affluents of the Gave of Pau, the brook the Baniou (and its tributaries, the Lagabotte brooks, Arrouyous, of Labarthe and Bousquet) and Estey d' Arthous, also cross the territory of the commune.

Toponymy
The toponym Came appears in the forms Camer (1193, cartulaire of Bayonne), Sanctus-Martinus de Camer (XIIe century, cartulaire of Sorde), Cams (1463, consents of Languedoc) and Cama (notaries of Pau).
History
Paul Raymond note that Came was founded in the middle of XIIe siècle.Cam formed with SAMES and Saint-EP-with-Léren a baronnie depend on the castle of Dax date of the XVIIIe siècle.
The house Morel or Dulom was the seat of a justice seigneuriale. One still sees there very beautiful ornaments renaissance.
The Villemayan house, in edge of Bidouze, was the starting point of boats charged with leathers and skins in direction of the port of Bayonne.
A house known as of notary dates from the XVIIe siècle.
The residence known as Large-House dates from XVIe siècle.
Old farms date from XVIe and XVIIIe siècles.
The Bordenave mill dates from the XVIIIe century.
Religious heritage
The Saint Martin's day church preserves the burials of the families Dulom and Morel, magistrates of the duke of Gramont as well as very former family of Villamayan, downward of the lords caviers of Orist and whose last representative was employed general farm. The church conceals a whole of five canopies and various parts of furniture inventoried by the ministry for the Culture.
