Calw (district)

The district of Calw , in German Landkreis Calw , is a administrative division German, located in the Land of Bade-Wurtemberg.

It belongs to the District of Karlsruhe

Geographical location

The districts bordering are (in the direction of the needles of a watch, starting from north): Enz, Pforzheim, Böblingen, Tübingen, Freudenstadt, Karlsruhe and Rastatt.

History

The district of Calw was the possession of the counts de Calw, benches with Sindelfingen which build in 1050 the castle of Calw. After their extinction at the 13th century, it is divided between the Welfs, the counts of Wurtemberg and the counts de Tübingen.
