Calonne-Ricouart

Calonne-Ricouart is a common French, located in the department of the Pas-de-Calais and the area Nord-Pas-de-Calais.

History

prehistoric Time: 200.000 years before J. - C. Vestiges of civilization acheuléenne in the area (Estrée Cauchy)

Of 1100 to 300 before J. - C. Invasions of the Celts. The Belgians are established of the Seine in the Rhine. Calonna (wet place, river) and Cambellon (Camblain) is marine villages, with the limit of the territory of Atrébates. They are on both sides of the road which connects Taruana (Thérouanne), capital of Morins with Nemetocenna (Arras), capital of Atrébates.

About the year 1000 The seigniory of Saint-pol. becomes a County with the detriment of the County of Ternois whose remainders are attached to the County of Flandres.

1147 The pope Eugene III confirms the property of the furnace bridge of Calonne to the abbey of Chocques.

In 1163 and 1167 The pope Alexandre III confirms this property. The abbey of Chocques has also the grounds and the farm of Quénin or Quénehem.

In 1180 The County of Saint-pol. returns in dowry to Isabelle de Hainaut girl of the Count de Flandre, Philippe of Alsace, at the time of its marriage with Philippe-Auguste. Calonnois are vassal of king de France.

In 1237 The County of Saint-pol. attached to the County of Artois is given in prerogative to Robert, brother of Saint-Louis.

In 1302 Siger of Ghent east lord of Calonne-Ricouart and vassal of Mahaut d' Artois. It belongs to the revolt carried out by Robert III against his aunt.

In 1329 Mahaut d' Artois repurchases the farm of Quénehem with Jakemon Markade (which held it itself of Baudouin de Souastre), to give it to Chartreuse de Gosnay.

In 1330 Calonne-Ricouart belongs to the dowry of Jeanne, girl of Huon, which marries Hugues, lord of Noyelles.

In 1415 Azincourt. Pierre and Lancelot de Noyelles belong to the 8000 Knights killed in the battle, with the count de Marles and the duke of Camblain and his two sons. Jean de Noyelles is then chamberlain of Jean without Peur, duke of Burgundy.

In 1469 Calonne-Ricouart is then a village of 40 “farms” (approximately 200 inhabitants).

In 1493 Artois returns in Maximilien of Austria.

In 1537 Troops of François Ier (our enemy), since we are the subjects of Charles Quint, plunder Calonne-Ricouart, destroy 33 houses and the castle. The French repeat in 1543. During the wars between the House of Austria and Valois de France, Noyelles of distinguish. François de Noyelles “Gentleman of the mouth” of Charles Quint is lieutenant-general of the Imperial Light cavalry to the battle of Saint-Quentin.

In 1640 Hugues de Noyelles is made count by the Albert archduke, husband of Isabelle, the girl of Philippe II of Spain. He is also governor of Limbourg, “chief of Finances” and adviser of State. In 1659 The treaty of the Pyrenees definitively gives Artois to France.

In 1698 Calonne has 31 firm (as a recall: 40 in 1469).

At the 18th century The seigniory of Calonne changes Masters. It is sold to Francoise d' Allewin, Comtesse of Rache. She gives it in dowry to her daughter, Claire Bergues who marries Maximilien de Bernard, lord of Esquelme. Thus is born the family from the Bernard de Calonne who always exists and whose armorial bearings became those of the commune.

1763 to 1781 Rebuilding of the church

In 1786 A new Castle is rebuilt with the site of the current cemetery.

In 1789 Calonne counts 265 inhabitants

Administration

Demography

The demographic explosion is explained by the progressive opening of the mine shafts of the pit n°6, n°6bis and n°6ter (exploitation of the basements rich in coal) starting from the beginning of the 20th century.

Places and monuments

The village and the castle were burned in 1537.

On the initiative of the Bernard de Calonne, the water mill with corn was built with on northern bank of the river " Clarence" in the west of the commune. It was sold during the Revolution and remained in the Occre family until the 19th century. It does not function any more since 1945. Nowadays, only one of the four bodies composing the building initially still exists.

the spoil heap of the well n°2 of Marles and the spoil heap of the n°6 will disappear in the future years, those are currently exploited for their schists (principal components), in particular like fill for the road infrastructure.

In the east of the commune, the park " CALONNIX" covers 35 ha of surface including 15 ha of wooded surface and 5 ha made up of two ponds. These water levels recover the old farm of Quénehem. Various sports activities and of leisures are proposed there (tennis, squash, riding school, wall of climbing, pedal boats, pisciculture and trout fishing, park of inflatable plays, animalist park…). Located on the site of leisures, the explosives magazines , old stock room of explosive materials intended for work of extraction of coal, were arranged in place of reception for bats.
