Calixte III

Calixte III (Alphonse Borgia), born with Xàtiva in 1378, pope of 1455 with 1458. Its Népotisme reinforced the power of the Borgia. It made an answer favorable to the call of the mother of Jeanne d' Arc and published the rescrit allowing its rehabilitation in 1455. It is known that the pope Calixte III preached the crusade in order to counter the invasion of the Othomans in Europe, who after the bag of Constantinople advanced towards Serbia. Thus the pope thus preached the crusade in Frankfurt in 1454.

There had been a Calixte III (Jean Morson), born in Hungary, Antipape of 1170 with 1177.
