Calippe

Calippe , Greek, native astronomer of Cyzique

It was fixed at Athens, and invented there, towards 331 av. J. - C, 76 years a lum-solar cycle, which it substituted for the cycle 19 years or Golden section, imagined by Méton, in order to bring back with more exactitude the same positions of the sun and the moon. This cycle, which began the front on June 28th, 330 J. - C, bears the name of period Calippique. Adopted by the Athenian S, then by the Macedonian S, it penetrated with those in Asia, and replaced the very solar cycle of the Chaldéen S.
