Calendar sayana

The calendar sayana is a Calendrier solar civilian, intended to unify the whole of the calendars of the India after independence.

After the independence of India (1947), its leaders found themselves confronted with multiple problems of standardization of a as vast and varied country as a continent. There existed several civil and religious calendars, with tens of regional alternatives. A Committee of reform of the calendar was made up in November 1952. Its work led to the adoption like national calendar of the calendar sayana the March 22nd 1957. Since this one, of a 365 days cycle starts every year at March 22nd of the Calendrier Julien except for the leap years during which it begins on March 21st.
