Calciosome
The calciosome is a particular type of endoplasmic Réticulum smoothes which is filled of Calcium. Its membrane is rich in Pompe with calcium which actively transports calcium since the Cytoplasme towards the light of the calciosome.
The calciosome takes part in the regulation of the concentration in intracellular calcium (i) which is a Second messenger essential with the transduction of message in the cell. In condition of " repos" , the pumping of calcium by the calciosome maintenance the i has a low level (between 10-4 and 10-5 mmol/l). The opening of channels calcium in the membrane of the calciosome following an excitation (Potential of action in the Myocyte S, IP3…) increase the i brutally, which involves a cascade of reactions (muscular Contraction, protein synthesis…)
The calciosomes present in the muscular cells are also called Réticulum sarcoplasmic S.
