Calcatoggio

Calcatoggio ( Calcatoghju in Corsican Language) is a common French, located in the department of the Corse-du-Sud and the Corsica area .

Geography

Located in the valley of Cinarca at a score of kilometers in the north of Ajaccio, Calcatoggio is a perched small village with approximately 300m of altitude. The territory of the commune extends to the sea and Calcatoggio has approximately 10km coasts as well as a very great sand beach, the beach of Liscia.

There are no hotels in the village, but one finds several with the beach of Liscia of them. One can announce among the hotels the hotel Paladien the Great Blue of New Borders (***) and the hotel of Castel charm of Orcino (***). Calcatoggio also has several camp-sites whose Camp-site has Marina (**), also on the beach of Liscia.

History

Association Good to live with Calcatoggio, which fights so that Calcatoggio finds its glory of antan, joined together several old photographs of the village.

Personalities related to the commune

Polished Theodore , celebrates gangster of Liamone was born in Guagno in 1799. Become shepherd, it settles in Calcatoggio, where its goats found many pastures in the valleys of Liscia and Liamone. At the twenty years age, it drew with the fate its conscription and had to go to Ajaccio, but refuses there. Imprisoned for desertion in 1820, he escapes by killing his guards. To survive, it creates a small community of gangsters “the Republic of the Gangsters of Liamone”, on which it reigns without division. It struck the clergy of the area of a tax proportional to their supposed richness. Theodore obtains the complicity of the population by playing the freedom fighters. It is against him that the " was organized; battalion of the acrobats corses" , from which he escaped. One could be right of it only by treason, on February 5th, 1831.

Nonce Romanetti is undoubtedly most known of the Corsican gangsters. Native of Calcatoggio, it took the maquis in 1913, but contrary with his colleagues, it is a society man and it organized large raoûts in the maquis, inviting many personalities of the time there. Its death, 5000 people attended with its funeral.

César Campinchi

Nicolas Leca : born on March 29th, 1908 in Montélimar, or his/her father, of an old Corsica family, was in service in the Prison authorities, Nicolas Leca carried out all his career in Africa until his retirement in 1974. Assistant of the Commander of circle of Niamey, Chief of the Subdivision of Say in bush, assistant of the office of the Economic affairs of Niger then Head clerk of the Political matters, assistant of the Commander de Cercle of Tillabéry… Mobilized in 1939-1940 with the Regiment of the Senegalese Riflemen of Zinder. then Indigenous professor d' Histoire of the Black Africa, delegated to Paris of the High commissioner of the AOF in 1947 and 1948. General secretary by interim in Niger, Chief of Area of the Chari Means in Fort Archambault. Collaborator and friend of the President of the Republic of Niger Hamani Diori. In 1974, it takes its retirement and settles in Calcatoggio. Nicolas died in Paris on December 28th, 2002. Nicolas Leca
