Calamos
In the Greek Mythology, Calamos (in Greek old Κάλαμος / Kálamos , literally “Roseau”) is the son of the god river Méandre.
Its history is told by Nonnos in its Dionysiaques : Calamos is the lover of Carpos, an young man considered for his beauty. But one day that both bathe together in the Meander, Carpos drowns. Of despair, Calamos is let die, being desiccated and étiolant itself until becoming a reed, plants to which it gives its name.
