Calédonie
Calédonie|Calédonie The Calédonie is the old name of the Scotland (of the Welsh, and Brittonique, caled , which gave kalet , hard, in Breton). It is the French version of the Latin term Caledonia (also used in English) which indicated the part of the island of Brittany in the north of the Hadrian's Wall, then Mur of Antonin, who was not conquered by the Romains, and never formed part of the Roman Empire.
Conquered by the Scots it became Scotia , which gave in French the term Scotland .
