Varron ( Caius Terentius Varro ), Roman statesman .
Resulting from the Plebs, it was Consul in 216 av. J. - C. with the Patricien Paul Emile. Both were overcome by Hannibal with the Bataille of Cannes. This day, it was Varron which ordered the army, but while his/her colleague was made kill during the battle, Varron managed to flee. With the eyes of the posterity, Varron was in charge of the responsibility for the disaster, to have wanted to engage the battle against the opinion of Paul Emile, which preferred to rather deliver it in mountain than in plain. However, to avoid any internal division within the city in danger, watch Tite-Live, the Senate and the magistrates made warm welcome with Varron on its return to Rome.
