Caius Claudius Marcellus (consul in -50)

Caius Claudius Marcellus , known as Caius Claudius Marcellus Minor (88 av. J. - C. - 40 av. J. - C.) is Consul into -50. Wire of Marcus Claudius Marcellus and Junia of Rome. Cousin of the consul of 49 av. J. - C. carrying the same name and brother of Marcus Claudius Marcellus consul in 51 av. J. - C.

In -54, he still married minor with Octavia Thurina Minor, large a niece of the Roman dictator Jules César. They had three children: Claudia Marcella in -44, Claudia Marcella junior in -43 and Marcus Claudius Marcellus in -42, the first heir to Auguste. The girls were born in Rome and their son was born in Baie. The Roman general Varus and his two sisters were grandchildren of its first marriage.

Marcellus was an enemy of César, but receives its forgiveness. As consul and senator, he asks explanations César, to justify his actions during the conquest of Gaulle. At the end of the campaign he asks César to resign. But this one refuses. He became a defender of Octave and the speaker Cicéron.

He died in May -40.
