Caiman (animal)
Close relations of the Alligator S, but not presenting a septum osseous between the nostrils, the caimans are originating in Central America and South America.
The Caiman comprises three S:
- Caiman crocodilus (Linnaeus, 1758) - Caiman with glasses.
- Caiman latirostris (Daudin, 1801) - Caiman with broad muzzle.
- Caiman yacare (Daudin, 1801) - Jacara.
Three other species are also called caimans although they are placed in different kinds ( Melanosuchus and Paleosuchus ).
