Caenis luctuosa

Caenis luctuosa is, according to most recent classifications, same the Insecte as Caenis moesta (Bengtsson, 1917) and Caenis felsinea (Grown, 1951).

Characteristics

  • Nymph:
    • 5 mm for the body,
    • 8 mm with the Cerque S
  • Imago:
    • Body: 4 mm, 4,5 mm
    • Cerque S: 12 to 15 mm, 2 to 3 mm

The passage of the Subimago to the Imago is characterized by a driven so fast, that it is made in flight, the Exuvie S covering the accesses of the places of blossomings.

Localization

In all the west of the Europe (Spain, France, England, Ireland), particularly starting from the middle price of the River S at sandy bottom.

Blossoming

Of at the end of June at the end of August, in very provided flights, always of the small day to the rising of the sun by mornings without wind.
