The college Janson-with-Sailly (JDS) is the largest school residence of Paris with: 3250 pupils and 575 members of the personnel including 247 permanent teachers. It is also one of the colleges which accommodates the greatest number of pupils of CPGE in France (: 1290 divided into thirty classes). The building is located in the XVI {{E}} district of Paris, to 106 rue de la Pompe and extends on a surface from 3,5 hectares. The Decamps streets, Herran, of the Pump and Longchamp as well as the Avenue Georges-Mandel surround the college. Built developed surface exceeds them: 32000 Mr. C' is one of the most crested colleges of the capital. Indeed, the majority of its pupils is resulting from the Parisian middle-class and lives, sectorization obliges, pricipalement in the XVIe district, one of most favoured of Paris.

History
Alexandre Emmanuel François Janson de Sailly, (1785-1829) a rich person Parisian lawyer, having discovered that his wife (Marijuana Joséphine Berryer, of the family of famous magistrates) maintained a relation extraconjugale disinherited the faulty one and bequeathed his fortune to the State so that this one buys a ground, and builds an institute for young boys. In 1876, after the lawsuits brought by the widow and the death of the latter, the fortune recovered by the State rose with 2.600.000 gold francs. According to the wills of the giver, no woman was to never be allowed there, which did not prevent teaching from becoming mixed one decade later. During its creation in 1884, the speech of the installation of the first stone was made by Jules Ferry in the presence of Victor Hugo.
Release of France.
In 1944, a few hundreds of pupils of the final classes of the college joined the free French Forces (1st Army of the Maréchal of Lattre de Tassigny), and founded a unit of elite: the 2nd Battalion of Shock or “Battalion Janson-of-Sailly”. They faced German divisions in Alsace (in particular battles of Masevaux and Colmar), during the great counter-attacks of the the Ardennes, and entered in Germany with the forces of the Général Patton in 1945. Some perished, and a monument their is devoted in the main courtyard.
Janson was in addition the first college to be obtained a TDCI in the years 1950, at the instigation of its headmaster, whose current TDCI bears the name: Marcel Lord.
May 9th, 2007 was inaugurated a plate “college of Europe” by the classes of first euro and abibac and their professors of German.
Administration
The current headmaster is Mrs. Anny Forestier, former headmaster of the Lycée Jean-Baptist-Say.
Mr. Michel Payen is assistant headmaster of the classes of the second cycle (seconds with final is thirty classes and approximately: 1050 pupils), Mrs. Anne Dellacasagrande is assistant headmaster in charge of the preparatory classes at the universities (twenty classes scientific and ten classes literary, economic and commercial, for a total of approximately: 1350 pupils). Mrs. Lahaye-Milazzo is principal assistant of the college, in charge of the classes with 6th with 3rd is approximately 950 pupils.
Mrs. Yvette Cluzel was headmaster of September 1988 in June 2002.
Mr. Jacques Gauzy was Principal college of September 1991 in June 2001 and Mr. Devaux of September 2001 in June 2005.
Mr. Marc Sautel is intendant of the school residence, and also provides the functions of accountant of the college, of the college, as well as two other attached colleges.
Teaching
The classes go from the sixth to final for secondary education. There are ninety of them (thirty with the college, thirty with the college and thirty in CPGE).In 1 and Final, the ten classes are divided into six S (scientific), three ES (economic and social) and a L (literary). Among the six ways S, there exists an S known as " rapide" , supposed to gather in its center the best pupils. During these two years, the classes remain the same ones (same pupils and same professors) in order to ensure a continuity in the program before the Vat.
Since September 2005, it accommodates the 1st section Abibac which prepares with the Franco-German baccalaureat of the academy of Paris, second in Île-de-France after the Lycée Gustave-Monod of Enghien-the-Baths (Valley of Oise) and preceding the college by Rueil-Malmaison.
A European Section German exists 4th (annual exchange with the max Planck Gymnasium of Dortmund) until the Final one (voyage in spring with Berlin). With the college, the German History-Geography is taught by a German professor.
The taught living languages are in LV1: the German and the English, and in LV2: German, English, the Spanish , the Italian , the Mandarin, the Russian and the Hebrew . One can also learn in option the Latin as of 5th and the old Greek as of 3rd. To note finally, an option " history of the arts" from the 2, as well as a French class intended for the pupils non-francophones.
The college shelters also Preparatory class at the literary universities (Al and BL), economic and commercial (ECE and ECS), scientists (MPSI, PCSI, MP, PC, PSI, BCPST).

All the preparatory classes of the college Janson de Sailly obtain very good performances with the entrance examinations of the most selective schools (HEC, Polytechnique, ENS). The admssion in prépa with Janson is very selective and only the best pupils are recruited.
Equipment and Buildings
At the north of the school residence the college is located, in the south the college. The main courtyard, the center Marcel Lord, the hall of 106 rue de la Pompe, the hearth of the high-school pupils and the canteen separate them. The two courses (of the college and the college) are rectangular, and the staircases located at each corner make it possible to reach the upper floors. With the college, there is another in the middle of a side, just opposite the entry.
A cafeteria is opened to the pupils of the college and of the preparatory classes, she proposes inter alia viennoiseries, sandwiches as well as hot drinks and fraiches at reduced prices.
In the court of the college the gymnasium is which comprises on the surface, two grounds (handball and basketball) accessible to all the high ones during the recreations and in basement, two grounds multisports (handball, basketball, volleyball, badminton,…) as well as a room of gymnastics and a room dedicated to the table tennis. A room of musculation occupies an important part of the central building of the court of the college.
A multi-media laboratory of language was built there is little. The pupils of the preparatory classes have the possibility of being exerted there at their lost hours.
The multiple chemistry laboratories make it possible to the pupils to handle and make many experiments.
In the place of the old refectory of the pupils (put except service in January 2002 and replaced by the self-service) rooms of biology were built.
The dormitories, reserved with certain CPGE, are located in the building of the college on various floors, but always occupy a wing in entirety. They are five, the third being reserved with the pupils of the best scientific classes (MP*, PSI*, PC*). Showers and toilets are laid out in each corridor. The rooms accommodate one or two pupil (S). The pupils cannot be present there between 9:00 and the hour of the lunch due to household.
The boarding school for girls is currently not with the day order but a hearth in the vicinity makes it possible to place the young coeds.
Specialized structure
Since September 2004, the college Janson-of-Sailly accommodates pupils with high intellectual potential thanks to a specialized structure (Teaching Unit of Integration) where benchmarks are fixed to them, in particular a room with people with their listening. In spite of these installations which are intended to them, these pupils integrate a normal class.Moreover, one action plan was set up to support the arrival of high-school pupils disadvantaged in CPGE with the college, by the privileging them and installation of partnership with other colleges, during the attribution of the places in boarding school.
Religions
Although laic establishment, the Janson college accommodates in its center a vault, also accessible from outside. A mass is celebrated there Saturday evening. The catholic chaplaincy the utilize.There exists also a Protestant chaplaincy.
