Cable 6a category
The category 6a increased is a specification of the standard ANSI/TIA/EIA-568-B.2.10 which describes, jointly with standard ISO/IEC 11801:2002 for the correspondence with the class Ea, a type of wiring to twisted pairs, based on the standard Ethernet.
Comparatively with the cable category 6 classifies E, the cable category 6a Ea class is adapted better for the standard 10GBASE-T. This one allows the data transmission flows going up to 10 Gbps and frequencies not exceeding 500 MHz.
Principal characteristics
The table below gives the characteristics for a cable of impedance 100 ohms and length 100 meters.
On this level of flow and frequency, a new parameter intervenes which has a significant influence on the behavior of this type of cable. It is about Alien Crosstalk (paradiaphonie exogenic) which is the electromagnetic coupling between pairs resulting from distinct connections.
PSANEXT: paradiaphonie exogenic cumulated for the pairs and measured within a beam of câbles. -
Application
The cable 6a category is used for the realization of Ethernet connections in full-duplex mode based on the standards 1000BASE-T and 10GBASE-T.
The connector RJ45 employed for connection limiting the flow and the band-width does not authorize the progression with wiring 6a category. The Ethernet standard evolving to a gradation of the flow and band-width imposes the homologation of category 7 and a new connector industry to go beyond the standard 10GBASE-T.
