Cabinet Adenauer II

The second cabinet of Konrad Adenauer was the West German Federal government according to on October 20th, 1953 at October 29th, 1957, during the 2nd legislature of the Bundestag . Directed by the Christian Democrat Konrad Adenauer, it was supported, at the origin, by a coalition gathering the Union Christian Democrat (CDU), the Christian woman-social Union in Bavaria (CSU), the Parti liberal-democrat (FDP), the German Parti (DP) and the Bloc the refugees (BHE).

It was formed following the elections of 1953, and saw the widening of the majority of the Cabinet Adenauer I with the majority of the small parts. The FDP left the coalition on February 23rd, 1956, but its ministers left the party and founded the liberal Popular party (FVP) to remain with the cabinet. The same year, part of the BHE, including/understanding its two ministers, joined CDU after a scission. The Cabinet Adenauer III was formed after the elections of 1957.
