Caber

The Caber is a traditional sports event Scottish which consists in sending further possible a tree trunk or a beam of more than 4 meters length.

Rules and technique

There are no particular rules on dimensions on the tree trunk (weight, size, type of wood, circumference, etc), makes of it the trunk used in the competitions varies in its characteristics with each event (the Highland Game). In general, at the time of these demonstrations, various categories exist according to the tree trunk.

Traditionally, a caber measurement between 5 and 6 meters and weighs between 35 and 60 kilograms, from where need for the competitors for having much force since they must raise the trunk then to balance it vertically.
