Gex is a common French, located in the department of the Ain and the area the Rhone-Alps.

Its inhabitants is called the Gexois . The inhabitants of the Pays of Gex are called the Gessiens .

Geography

Regional capital of the Country of Gex, near to the Swiss , it belongs to the urban surface of Geneva.

Gex is with the foot of the Massif of the Jura, and is connected to the department of the the Jura by the Col of the Sickle. It is a “city carries” of the Regional natural park of the High-Jura.

History

Gex was inhabited as of 1800 before J. - C. Approximately 220 years before the Christian era, Gex and its surroundings were adopted by a horde of courageous warriors, " Gésates" (called thus because they were armed with a gaesium, left iron lance).
