Cañada Flintridge

Cañada Flintridge is a city located in the Comté of Los Angeles, in the state of California, with the the United States. With the census of 2000 its population was of 20.318 inhabitants. The city accommodates the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Geography

Cañada Flintridge is located at 34°12 ′ 22 Northern ″, 118°11 ′ 58 ″ Western.

According to the Office of Census, it has a surface of 22,4 km ².

History

During the Spanish time, the area was known under the name of Rancho Cañada , or the Ranch of the Throat . Before its incorporation in municipality in 1976, the city was made up of two communities, Cañada and Flintridge ( flint meaning " Flint " and ridge " crête" that is to say word for word the " peak of silex").
