Caçador
Caçador is a city Brésil ienne interior of the State of Santa Catarina. It is located by a Latitude of 26° 46 ' 30" south and by a Longitude of 51° 00 ' 54" west, with a Altitude of 920 meters. Its population was estimated at: 72606 inhabitants in 2006. The municipality extends on 982 km ².

Geography
Caçador is located in the high valley of the Rio C Peixe. The annual average temperature is of 16,6°C and precipitations oscillate between 1.600 and 1.800 mm per annum. Its culminating point reached: 1308 meters of altitude.Caçador holds the official record of the lowest temperature of the Brésil, with -14°C in 1975. Other data, nonofficial, bring back a temperature of -17°C in 1996, with the Morro da Igreja, on the municipality of Urubici, also in the State of Santa Catarina.
History
The banks of the Rio C Peixe were inhabited by the Indians of the Ethnie S Kaingang and Xokleng until in 1881, when families of European origin were established in the area and, because of the abundance of Gibier, called it Rio C Caçador (river of the hunter, in French).Francisco Corrêa of Mello, coming from Campos Novos, is established on the banks of Rio C Caçador in 1881. He is regarded as the first inhabitant of Portuguese origin . He was followed in 1887 by Pedro Ribeiro and, in 1891, by Tomaz Gonçalves Padilha.
With the construction of the way of railroad São Paulo - Rio Grande C Sul, of 1908 with 1910, colonization intensified with the arrival of immigrants of origin German Italy, , Polish, Syria and Lebanon ease. In 1910, the railroad arrived at Caçador and allowed the arrival of many Italian immigrants coming from the Rio Grande C Sul. With the colonization of Rio das Antas, by the Brazil Railway Co. of many colonists of germano-Brazilian origin of come from the littoral of the Santa Catarina was established in the area.
The municipality of Caçador is in the heart of the area where was held, of 1912 with 1916, the Guerre of Contestado.
The construction of the road Caçador/Curitibanos, in 1933, gave a great impulse to the development of the area. In 1923, the locality, under the name of Rio Caçador , became a district of the municipality of Campos Novos. In 1933, it becomes district of the municipality of Curitibanos.
The growth of the population and industries of wood pushed with the creation of the municipality, the March 25th 1934, by dismemberment of the towns of Curitibanos, Campos Novos, Cruzeiro and Oporto União.
