CTCP

CTCP is the abbreviation of Customer-To-Customer-Protocol , which is a special type of communication between customer IRC.

Description

CTCP is a common protocol implemented by the majority of the customers IRC. It extends original protocol IRC while making it possible to the users to send private messages not passing by the waiter. Additionnellement, CTCP can be used for encoder of the messages which protocol IRC would not make it possible to send, like messages containing of the jumps of lines for example.

CTCP also makes it possible to the users to know the version of a customer (CTCP VERSION), local time (CTCP TIME), certain information (CTCP USERINFO), inter alia. CTCP is also sometimes used to negotiate connections DCC.

A message CTCP is implemented in PRIVMSG when the message starts and finishes by bit 1. The characters which would not be authorized by protocol IRC are jumped. An answer CTCP is implemented with NOTE rather than PRIVMSG, but the characteristics remain the same ones.
